Thankful For All...

I feared that I'd never have all I dreamed of
until I realized that if I did, I'd have nothing to look forward to.
I grieved over my loss
until I realized that if I'd never experienced loss, I wouldn't be grateful for what I have.
I rued my shortcomings
until I realized that without them, I would never have focused my energy where I'm most gifted.
I suffered weariness,
but I realized that if I didn't, I wouldn't have accomplished something worthwhile.
I hated to put in the effort,
until I realized that if I hadn't, I wouldn't know how great it feels to succeed.
I bemoaned the difficult times,
until I realized that if I'd never experienced them, I wouldn't appreciate the good times.
I resisted giving of myself,
until I realized that if I didn't, I wouldn't make a positive difference.
I cried about my failure,
until I realized that if I hadn't failed, I would never have found better opportunities.
I couldn't see why I must endure a challenge,
until I realized that through it, I had developed strength of character.
I agonized over my setbacks,
until I realized that because of them, I'd tried something new and found a better way.
I regretted my mistakes,
until I realized that without them, I would never have grown.
I've learned to be thankful for all
I've experienced in my life;
for every trial and tribulation
becomes a blessing.
